Mediabox is a Department for Children, Schools and Families fund that gives disadvantaged 13-19 year olds living in the UK the chance to make creative media projects about the issues they are passionate about. This is a fabulous creatively driven funding opportunity for young people to express their opinions, ideas and views, gain new skills and get their voices heard!

Notts Positive Activities for Young People Strand3 Funding
The Nottinghamshire County Council Positive Activities for Young People Strand 3 funding round for 2010-11 is now open. This additional funding is to be used to create a wide range of high quality art, sport and community based youth provision, to be delivered mainly in school holidays, but also aimed at Friday evenings and Saturdays, (and other out of school times provided that evidence of need can be proven) as part of the national year round support to increase positive activities for young people in identified areas of high need in Nottinghamshire.

Shine Week 12th – 16th July 2010
Shine is a chance for young people across the UK to show everyone what an amazing, creative and talented group they are. Between July 12-16, 2010 Shine returns for its third annual week-long festival when schools and youth groups across the country can celebrate the skills, talents and achievements of young people aged between 13 and 19.
In 2009, thanks to the help of The National Youth Agency, the Department for Children Schools and Families and countless others, over 6,000 schools and organisations and up to a million people took part in Shine Week, culminating with 250 young people debating in the House of Lords!

Joanne Salter is the Mediabox Young Champion for the East Midlands. Joanne first became a Young Advisor in January 2007, when the scheme was being piloted in Dudley. She is currently studying Marketing Management at DeMontfort University in Leicester.
