Open Workshop on Creative Writing & New Media at De Montfort University (DMU)

Narrative Lab is hosting this workshop taking place on Friday 23 June, which marks an important moment in the history of writing and new media.

What will take place at the workshop?
The day will commence with a presentation by Randy Adams, editor and visual consultant of trAces: A Commemoration of Ten Years of Artistic Innovation at trAce and will end with a presentation by Sue Thomas, Professor of New Media at De Montfort University and Programme Leader of the Online MA in Creative Writing & New Media, looking at the future of writing in a changing media environment.

Throughout the rest of the day there will be practical workshops
including:

  • Encounters with Web Fiction, Jess Laccetti, researcher in new media texts, DMU.
  • The digital playground - writing with and for children, Helen Whitehead, Kids on the Net.
  • Wikis and the Workshop, Keith Jebb, lecturer in creative writing, University of Luton.
  • Writing about AI, Aladdin Ayesh, Coordinator of Intelligent Mobile Robotics and Creative Computing Group and Sue Thomas, Professor of New Media, DMU.
  • Writing New Media Fiction, Kate Pullinger, print and new media author, Research Fellow, DMU.

What time does the event start?
The day commences at 10am and will conclude by 5pm.

How much does it cost to attend?
Attendance is free of charge and lunch and refreshments are included, but places are limited. Please do not register unless you are sure you can attend. Narrative Lab will contact you nearer the time to confirm your intention to attend.
