EM MEDIA’S TALENT NETWORK - forthcoming events

EM Media is planning to bring together the region’s film and media practitioners through Talent Network events taking place in 2008.

These EM Media Talent Network events are for writers, directors and producers/production companies and are a chance to meet other talent in the region. We’re hoping to demonstrate the successes and strengths of the region as well as encourage collaboration for the glorious convergent future…

A big part of the Talent Network will be specific Producer Forum events for production companies and producers with an established track record in the industry. These events are not for entry-level talent.

Most Producer Forum events will take place between 6pm and 9pm and kick-off with an informal presentation from speakers from across the media industries followed by a Q&A session. The obligatory networking will round up the evening.

We are also planning a number of events in 2008 for writers and directors.

Wednesday 30 January: Producer Forum
The Power of the Collaborator - featuring presentation from regional TV Producer Charles Hunter and Games Guru Toby Barnes.

Saturday 8 March: Producers and Writers
Speed Pitching for Film and TV Folk – following the enormous success of the Speed Pitching Talent Network event at Broadway Cinema in Nottingham last year, EM Media is joining forces with the Screenwriters Day at De Montfort University in Leicester to provide another pitching event. Regional writers will pitch their ideas to regional producers and also have the opportunity to attend sessions with established TV writers. More information will be posted on EM Media’s website in due course.

Wednesday 19 March: Producer Forum
Lights, Camera, Action – a regional film production company will provide an overview of securing finance for feature film production, with an emphasis on documentary filmmaking followed by a presentation from a new media company.

April – date to be confirmed: Producers Forum
Exploiting Your Rights – EM Media is currently securing a speaker from a major trade association to cover how best you can realise the commercial potential of your product(s).
